Background On Skin Moles Treatment
Several studies signify that skin moles are even somewhat suspicious for malignancy. Recent surgical modalities involve the latest Er:YAG laser, CO2 laser, argon laser, 585-nm flash lamp-pumped pulsed-dye laser, ruby laser, surgical excision, dermabrasion, and liquid nitrogen. Surgical excision has been acknowledged as the most effective therapy to prevent recurrence, but it leads to a permanent scar and other associated skin problems. However, results or outcomes are based on the ability and experience of the surgeon.
Guidelines on skin moles from the American Academy of Dermatology suggested a minimal incisional or excisional biopsy but they do not talk about the procedure of removal. The UK Guidelines for the Management of skin moles suggested that suspected areas be excised entirely (excisional biopsy) and sent for confirmatory examination.
Occasionally, cosmetic outcomes were not pleasing due to depressed scars. For the improvement of these complications, dermabrasion is a solution. Dermabrasion has been applied for several years to heal a diversity of dermatologic setting, as well as scar revision and facial skin resurfacing.
